The year 2020 was quirky for almost everyone. Isolations, quarantines, lockdowns, and restrictions became the buzzwords.
Social distancing became the new norm; masks became a part of regular wear; sanitization became a necessity for survival.
The covid19 pandemic has taught us more lessons in the year 2020 than years past. And it’s also high time that we retrospect our Spiritual lives more than ever before.
As we step into another New year, We need to set ourselves right before God by asking ourselves a few questions.
How was our walk with God last year? Did we spend quality time with Him or did we spend our time on worthless things?
Did we thank God for all the blessings we received from Him or did we forget that He is our Ultimate Provider?
Did we trust Him completely for our needs or Did we rely too much on ourselves than Him?
The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Even if we do so many things for God, they are useless if not done according to His Will.
The Bible teaches us the same in Luke 5:1-11 when Jesus met four fishermen in the shores of the lake of Gennesaret and made them His disciples.
Although the disciples worked all night in the same place, they caught no fish.
But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” (Luke 5:5)
But when they decided to let down the net at His Word, they saw the hand of God in their work.
And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. (Luke 5:6,7)
Jesus didn’t ask them to cast their net in some other place but in the same place where they toiled the whole last night without success.
Even though the disciples put in all the hard work, they didn’t reap the benefits until Jesus stepped into their lives.
No matter how much effort we put in, if God is not on our side, what we do would only be in vain.
We would’ve really worked hard the whole last year on our own in our personal, professional and Spiritual commitments to no avail.
Despite our unwillingness to surrender to His will, He is still gracious to us for which we are unworthy.
Can we make a decision at least this New year to do everything according to His Will?
Wishing You a very Happy New Year 2021.
