Everyone of us look forward to this new year with a lot of expectations. We expect that our past hurts, pains, and sufferings wouldn’t continue in this new year. We wish our new year to be healthy and prosperous one for ourselves and our dear ones.
But have you ever thought what our life is all about or are you just going on with the life pattern of live as we like?
Do you know the One who created time because of whom we celebrate this day? If not, this new year is the right time to pause and ponder just about Him.
God who is the Creator of everything in this world created us in His own image and placed us on earth. “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end.” (Revelation 22:13)
But we humans forgot His will for our lives and chose to alienate ourselves from Him by pursuing our own sinful desires. Because of our sinful living, we invoked God’s wrath and deserved God’s punishment in everlasting hell.
However, God didn’t want to leave us wayward but sent His only begotten Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross and pay the price for our sins.
By His grace, God grants us the opportunity to get saved through our faith. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)
In His unconditional love, God calls us to repent of our sins and get saved by willingly placing our faith in Jesus who died yet lives forever. If we repent and believe in Him, God will give us everlasting life after we die.
No matter how many new years we celebrate and how blessed are we on earth, if we don’t have God’s gift of salvation, we wouldn’t have the real hope that the whole of mankind longs for.
As you start the new year with a lot of hope, make a decision to cling onto the real hope, that God is offering you through the sacrificial death of His Son.
Let this new year be a year of real hope for you that begins with God and continues forever in Christ. Happy New Year!
