“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” Galatians 1:8
The Gospel is not a man-made message but God’s plan of salvation revealed through His Son Jesus Christ. It is clear from this passage that the perversion of the Gospel is not something new. It was present even during Paul’s time. The Galatians have been misled by some false gospel and Paul wanted to ensure that they return to the true Gospel that they had first accepted. The gravity of the situation is very clear when Paul says that even if an angel from heaven be accursed if he preaches any other Gospel. More than ever before, false gospels are gaining popularity these days. Many want to please men more than God and end up delivering the wrong/false gospel. This is a wakeup call for all professing Christians to hold on to the One True Gospel revealed in the Word of God. However, we need wisdom to discern what is true and what is false. King Solomon sought after this Godly wisdom in 1 Kings 3:9 praying, “Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”” This wisdom comes when we seek earnestly and dig deeper into His Word. In this world, where we are surrounded by so many false gospels, we need God’s wisdom to be vigilant and preach the true Gospel message. May God grant us a discerning heart to stay true to His Gospel of Love revealed through the sacrifice of His Only begotten Son.
