“He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay”
Matthew 28:6
In the history of mankind, many people tried to disprove the fact Jesus resurrected from the dead. Some did this out of selfish ambitions and some out of pure ignorance.
Irrespective of all these attempts, the fact Jesus resurrected on the third day is transforming the lives of many even today.
The Human mind is limited by the thoughts that life ends once we die. But the Resurrection of Jesus rewrites death as the beginning and assures us that there is a life after death which is central to the Christian faith.
Jesus Himself proclaims in John 11:25, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.” This clearly indicates that Jesus is the Source of Resurrection and He has the power to raise us from the dead.
There are 3 things the resurrection signifies in our Christian life:
1) Hope of Salvation:
If Jesus had not resurrected, there is no Salvation for our souls and we would still be sinners. Resurrection brings hope to the hopeless life we once lived. Salvation doesn’t require works but it requires us to believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).
2) Newness of Life:
The resurrection invites us to put off our old selfish attitudes and pursue the new selfless life. The sinful life we once lived was crucified on the cross and we should no longer live in it. We are now dead to sin and alive in Christ.
“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).
3) Meaningful Faith:
Without the resurrection of Christ, our faith is meaningless. If Christ had not resurrected, there would be no hope of life for us after death, and our faith is in vain. Thanks be to God, our faith is made meaningful because of Christ’s resurrection from the dead.
“If Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins!” (1 Corinthians 15:17).
