“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son…”
Galatians 4:4
God sent His Son to save us from sins which is the central theme of this season. No wonder, we as Christians proclaim “Jesus is the Reason for the Season”. King Solomon says in the book of Ecclesiastes that there is a Season for everything.
“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1)
In fact, this entire chapter talks about times and seasons. In today’s modern world, when we want everything to happen overnight, it might seem reasonable to expect God working through our lives fairly quickly. But for God, a thousand years and one day are the same.
“But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.” (2 Peter 3:8)
God lies outside of time. But He does everything in His own time. God’s timing is perfect unlike ours. He is not in a hurry as we are. That’s why He took so many years to send His Son as Saviour to the sinful world. God could have sent Jesus anytime but He was not in a hurry. He chose a specific time in history to fulfill His will.
“And while they were there, the time came for her to give birth.” (Luke 2:6)
Notice the emphasis given to time. God sent an angel at the perfect time to announce Mary about her pregnancy. He instructed Joseph about his course of action at the right times. It just shows how God can lead us beautifully when we fully trust His time.
When God delays something, it gives us the perfect opportunity to learn patience and get aligned to His will. Above all, who knows the right time than the One who created time?
