Last week I had a lunch with my friends in a restaurant. We ordered too many dishes and we did eat a lot as we always do. However we were unable to consume everything. We tried our best and still we left some unconsumed. Though we packed up the untouched dishes, I could still see the left outs on the table.
The incident really disturbs me often when I think about the unprivileged millions starving for food. I feel that we really did a mistake by ordering dishes more than what we could actually consume. It always comes naturally out of us to order in surplus without even realizing that we are wasting food.
It’s true that we didn’t order food to leave it unconsumed. But we could have planned better. The idea is very simple. We can order few dishes and can order more if we really want to have more. Isn’t that simple? It might be little time consuming yet its totally worth it. I am just reminded of a Bible verse found in 1 Corinthians 10:31, “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” God is concerned even about the tiny things we do. Shall we do our part?
