Christmas is the greatest miracle ever happened on earth. Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world was born in a small town called Bethlehem. Having realized this, wise men from east came to see Jesus.
“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem.” (Matthew 2:1)
The Bible doesn’t say exactly how these wise men came to know about the birth of Jesus. It really surprises us every time when we think how someone living in some other part of the world recognized the birth of a Child in a small town of Bethlehem especially during those times when there was no means of communication existed as we have today. It really was a miraculous revelation. We must also notice that they were very keen to see the child and worship him.
“Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” (Matthew 2:2)
The star they saw in the east wasn’t a natural phenomenon either. It was again a miraculous sign to indicate the birth of the Savior. It again appeared to them and eventually helped them reach the destination.
“lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced with exceeding great joy. And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him.” (Matthew 2:9-11)
It’s the eagerness of the wise men that helped them witness Jesus Christ, the greatest miracle. Jesus Christ did so many miracles in the lives of people during His ministry on earth. His miracles didn’t stop there. He saved us by shedding His precious blood on the cross.
Our salvation is the greatest miracle we could personally witness in our lives. God wants to perform the same miracle in everyone’s life. What it requires of us? We also must be keen to worship and eager to witness Him. May this Christmas bring us the thirst to proclaim God’s greatest miracle. Merry Christmas!
